Fractional CIO for Gulf Coast Businesses

You've outgrown "the person who's good with computers," but a full-time technology executive isn't in the budget. A fractional CIO gives you that judgment part-time: someone who owns the roadmap, manages the vendors and answers to you.

StrAinge Business Solutions provides fractional CIO services to businesses in Mobile, Baldwin County and across the Gulf Coast. The fractional CIO is founder Hunter Strange, a former Chief Information Officer who built a company's technology organization from scratch and later carried it through an acquisition. The Partner plan, which includes fractional-CIO advisory, roadmap ownership and hands-on delivery, is $5,000 a month; lighter plans start at $1,500 a month.

When a fractional CIO makes sense

  • You have roughly 10 to 200 people and nobody whose job is to decide how your technology fits together.
  • You pay for a pile of software subscriptions and aren't sure which ones earn their keep.
  • Your IT provider keeps the computers running, but nobody is planning what you need next year.
  • You're preparing to grow, raise money, or sell, and your systems need to hold up to scrutiny.

What your fractional CIO does

Owns the technology roadmap

A written plan for the next 12 months, tied to your business goals and budget, reviewed with you every month.

Manages vendors and software

Evaluates proposals, negotiates renewals, cuts subscriptions you don't use, and keeps your IT provider and software vendors accountable.

Security and access

Who can get into what, what happens when someone leaves, and the basic controls insurers and larger customers now ask about.

SI decisions

Where Super Intelligence (SI) tools fit in your business, which ones are safe to use, and the rules your team follows.

What this looks like in real work

Founder background

A CIO who built it, ran it, and took it through an acquisition

As CIO of GAT Airline Ground Support, Hunter took the company from minimal technology to a modern stack (Google Workspace, an HR system, analytics). He then ran that application suite across the U.S. and Canada for years and led IT through the company's 2026 acquisition by PrimeFlight Aviation Services. Before that, he owned a public accounting firm for six years.

Questions people ask

What does a fractional CIO cost?

Our Partner plan is $5,000 a month and includes fractional-CIO advisory, technology roadmap ownership and hands-on delivery. Lighter support plans start at $1,500 a month, and whole-business advisory runs $395–$750 a month. All plans are published.

What's the difference between a fractional CIO and a managed IT provider?

A managed IT provider runs your devices, network and help desk. A fractional CIO decides what technology the business needs, in what order, and at what cost, and holds the vendors (including your IT provider) to it. Many businesses need both; we work alongside your IT provider rather than replacing it.

Is my business big enough to need one?

If technology decisions are being made by whoever has time, and those decisions cost real money, it's worth a conversation. The service is built for businesses of roughly 10 to 200 people.
